THE HOMEGARDENS (BACK YARD) OF THE AGRARIAN REFORM PROJECT RIO DA AREIA, OF TEIXEIRA SOARES COUNTY, PR

Resumo: | The vegetable and animal composition, the structure and the use of home gardens products of the Agrarian Reform Project Rio da Areia, of Teixeira Soares County – PR (Brazil), created 15 years, were studied. The home gardens have, on average, 250 m2 of area and are classified as simultaneous. A total of 68 vegetable species and 6 animal species, distributed in 32 botanic families and 58 genera, were found. There exit, on average, 22 vegetable species per home garden. These plants can be classified as follows: 20 fruitful, 19eating vegetables, 14 medicinal, 9 wood, 7 condiments and 6 ornamental. The plant distribution and installations for raising animals follow a considerable degree of organization. All animal and vegetal production is consumed by families. |
