From the 1990s onwards, it has began a worldwide movement in Education, marked by reflections about the desired school for the 21st century, highlighting through different documents the importance of a broad perspective of human development, which included intentionally social and emotional aspects. These reflections influenced brazilian educational laws, such as the Lei de Diretrizes e Bases para Educação Básica (LDB) and more recently the Base Nacional Comum Curricular (BNCC). Even so, it is considered a great challenge for Education to think about teacher training that has social and emotional learning as a fundamental aspect. In this context, this article is a result of a research project at the master's level and seeks to problematize the categories of social and emotional training and teaching practice in brazilian public elementary education. The current findings are in an initial stage and its possible contribution can help broadenning the views of social and emotional education for teachers based on the proposals of both LDB and BNCC. It is also intended to think not only about different practices, but to discuss the constructive viability of their intentions and meanings, in what weighs the student experience, curriculum development, production of didactic content and its repercussions on human development and its influence on political aspects.
