Resumo: The research goes through the development and maintenance of the Associations for the Protection and Assistance of Convicts, based on the finding about the ineffectiveness of the current model of criminal execution in Brazil. Therefore, it is necessary to demonstrate the efficiency of the APAC method as an experience worthy of serving the sentence, which provides a great possibility of re-socialization, low levels of criminal recidivism and cost reduction. Furthermore, the state of Minas Gerais is pointed out as an object of investigation to examine the legal attributions of the Judiciary and the Public Ministry, as well as the initiatives developed by the Court of Justice of Minas Gerais and the National Council of Justice.

Diante disso, busca-se demonstrar a eficiência do método APAC enquanto uma experiência digna de cumprimento da pena, que proporciona grande possibilidade de ressocialização, baixos níveis de reincidência criminal e redução de custos.
