Resumo: This research verified the influence of the temperature and light on seed germination of Bowdichia virgilioides. The experiment was conducted in factorial system 3x5x2, correspoding to three lots of seeds, five temperatures and two light condictions. The germination test was conducted in thermo gradiente table regulated in temperatures of 20°C, 25°C, 30°C and 35°C under constant light and BOD adjusted in temperature 20-30°C with photoperiod of 12 hours. In order to simulate the light absence the gerbox were involved with alluminium paper. There were evaluated the percentage of germination, index speed of germination and dry weight of seedlings. The tempeatures of 25°C and 20 30°C result in higher percentage. In relation to photoblastism, the seeds are indifferent to light conditions.

O experimento foi conduzido em esquema fatorial 3 x 5 x 2, correspondendo a três lotes de sementes, cinco temperaturas e duas condições de luz. O teste de germinação foi conduzido em mesa termogradiente regulada nas temperaturas de 20°C, 25°C, 30°C e 35°C sob luz contínua e em BOD ajustada à temperatura 20-30°C, com fotoperíodo de 12 horas. Para simular a ausência de luz, os gerbox foram envolvidos com papel alumínio. Foram avaliados a porcentagem de germinação, o índice de velocidade de germinação e peso da matéria seca de plântulas.
