Implantação de repositório institucional: o caso da Universidade Federal de Lavras

Among the themes that permeate the field of public policies in Brazil, there is a concern of the state in relation to the public policy of open access to scientific production through its federal institutions of higher education. The Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology (IBICT), in partnership with the Financier of Studies and Projects (FINEP), has been supporting universities and research institutions in the implementation of Institutional Repositories (IRs), in order to promote access to and dissemination Brazilian scientific production. In order to facilitate the deposit of publications in repositories, IBICT also recommends that institutions develop a Policy Corporate Information (PII) that mandating the deposit of scientific literature by researchers in the IRs. The implementation of an IR provides activities ranging from choosing the software that will be used to drafting policies that govern the operation of the repository. The article aims to describe the process of deployment RIUFLA from a pilot project at the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA). This is a descriptive research, the method used was the case study and data collection was used participant observation. It is concluded that the experience of the pilot project was positive, therefore allows us to understand not only the RIUFLA operational issues, as well as the involvement of researchers. Furthermore, it was possible to detect the early barriers and limitations RIUFLA actions and seek to correct them for implementation in other departments.
