Transgenerational learning is the result of a process of acquisition, construction, storage/or dissemination of knowledge by the family members and valid for the administration of the familiar companies. The time and space are central elements in this process, having in mind the necessity of the platform for the occurrence of the conversations, questions, formation of familiar-companies relations, interactions and social practices between the members of the company and the owner family. The present study was developed with the objective of learning the process of the transgenerational learning in familiar companies administrated by members of the third generation of the owner family, having the State of Rio Grande do Sul as the chosen geographic place for the empiric research. The method used was the case study of multicase under the logic of the replication aiming the possibility of the analytical generalization of the results. The illustration of the cases follows the structure of the theory construction, the technique of description of each case is narrative and the perspective of analysis of the theoretical basis of the organizational learning is under the interpretive paradigm. Under the theoretical proposition that the transgenerational learning, developed in platforms of knowledge, facilitates the survival of the familiar companies, this study resulted in the verification that the superimposition and, consequently, the interaction of two or more generations of members of the owner family in the familiar company is the main dynamic for the creation of the organizational knowledge. The organizational learning in the familiar companies takes place in a combined process of subjectivity of the directors in the process of the administrative decisions making and in the constructions of the organizational spaces, oriented by the ethnicity and cultural subsystems developed in the private space of the family, and - of the informality in the administrative process. The reflexive construction of meanings, which permit to create new organizational pieces of knowledge, is possible due to the existence of the honestly structured systems, oriented by the commitment of the oldest generation of family members in keeping the property and the administration of the familiar company.O tema central desta tese é o processo de aprendizagem organizacional transgeracional nas empresas familiares no qual se inserem as noções de tempo e de espaço que constituem a plataforma de conhecimentos considerando-se a influência do sistema geracional familiar e os elementos do contexto histórico-social que as envolvem. Aprendizagem transgeracional é o resultado de um processo de aquisição, construção, armazenagem e/ou disseminação de saberes pelos membros da família e válidos à gestão de empresas familiares. O tempo e o espaço são elementos centrais nesse processo, tendo em vista a necessidade de plataforma para a ocorrência de conversações, questionamentos, formação de laços familiares-empresariais, interações e práticas sociais entre membros da empresa e da família proprietária. O presente estudo foi desenvolvido com o propósito de apreender o processo de aprendizagem organizacional transgeracional nas empresas familiares gerenciadas pelos membros da terceira geração da família proprietária, tendo como espaço geográfico da pesquisa empírica o Estado do Rio Grande do Sul. Utilizou-se o método estudo de caso multicaso sob a lógica da replicação objetivando a possibilidade de generalização analítica dos resultados. A ilustração dos casos segue a estrutura de construção da teoria, a técnica de descrição de cada caso é narrativa e a perspectiva de análise é interpretativista sob os fundamentos teóricos da aprendizagem organizacional. Sob a proposição teórica de que a aprendizagem transgeracional, desenvolvido em plataforma de conhecimentos, facilita a sobrevivência das empresas familiares, este estudo resultou na constatação de que a sobreposição e, por conseguinte, a interação de duas ou mais gerações de membros da família proprietária na empresa familiar é a principal dinâmica à criação de conhecimento organizacional. A aprendizagem organizacional nas empresas familiares acontece num processo combinado de subjetividade dos dirigentes no processo de tomada de decisão gerencial e na construção de espaços organizacionais, orientados pela etnicidade e subsistemas culturais desenvolvidos no espaço privado da família, e da informalidade no processo administrativo. A construção reflexiva de significados que permite gerar novos conhecimentos organizacionais se dá pela existência de sistemas fracamente estruturados, orientados pelo comprometimento da geração mais velha de membros da família em manter a propriedade e a gestão da empresa familiar.
