Resumo: The text is the outcome of discussions held in the course "Education, Emancipation, and Difference", part of the Graduate Program in Science Education at a University in the interior of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The aim was to comprehend and contemplate the complexity paradigm, based on Edgar Morin's work, and its significance for the epistemology in the field of education. Methodologically, it's characterized as a State of Knowledge, qualitative and descriptive in nature. Academic articles from 2018 to 2022 were chosen, with the keywords "Education" and "Complex Thinking", from national journals that underwent peer-review. The analysis yielded 23 works that display the contributions of the complexity paradigm to education. The authors advocate concepts such as transdisciplinarity, interdisciplinarity, planetary thinking, and global society. They demonstrate that the oversimplification of knowledge has not aided in understanding the complexity of life and the world.

O objetivo foi compreender e refletir sobre o paradigma da complexidade, com base em Edgar Morin, e sua importância para a epistemologia da área de educação. Caracteriza-se metodologicamente como Estado do Conhecimento, de natureza qualitativa e descritiva. Foram selecionados artigos acadêmicos no período de 2018 a 2022, com o descritor “Educação” e “Pensamento Complexo”, de periódicos nacionais que fossem revisados por pares. Da análise, resultou 23 trabalhos que mostram contribuições do paradigma da complexidade para a educação. Os autores defendem conceitos como: transdisciplinaridade, interdisciplinaridade, pensamento planetário e a sociedade global. Mostram que a simplificação dos saberes não tem contribuído para compreender a complexidade da vida e do mundo.El texto es el resultado de discusiones llevadas a cabo en la asignatura de Educación, Emancipación y Diferencia, del Programa de Posgrado en Educación en Ciencias de una universidad del interior del estado de Rio Grande do Sul. El objetivo fue entender y reflexionar sobre el paradigma de la complejidad, basado en Edgar Morin, y su importancia para la epistemología del campo de la educación. Metodológicamente, se caracteriza como un estado del conocimiento, de carácter cualitativo y descriptivo. Se seleccionaron artículos académicos de 2018 a 2022, con los descriptores "Educación" y "Pensamiento complejo", de revistas nacionales que fueron revisadas por pares. El análisis resultó en 23 trabajos que demuestran las contribuciones del paradigma de la complejidad a la educación. Los autores defienden conceptos como: transdisciplinariedad, interdisciplinariedad, pensamiento planetario y sociedad global.
