Alfabetização Midiática e Informacional: uma análise sobre as práticas docentes no ensino de Biologia

Resumo: Media and Information Literacy (MIL) represents an important role in the perspective of access, usage and comprehension of information provided by the media. It is understood as necessary for every citizen and all contexts: social, political, cultural and educational. The goal of this research is to analyze the process of Media and Information Literacy that are present on teaching practices of Biology teachers. The research is of qualitative approach and its typology is of case study, in which the participants are Biology teachers that work on basic education institutions maintained by the State in the city of Santa Helena-MA. The data were analyzed based on the methodological referential of Content Analysis, proposed by Bardin (2016), in which the exploration of the collected data permitted us to establish priori categories. From the identified elements of MIL in the reality of teachers related to the access to media, we comprehend that there still are difficulties in the access by teachers, students and at the institutions. However, the search for information and content on media is present in the practices of those teachers through digital and printed media to integrate and complement their job. In relation to the characterization of competences and skills on MIL, the ones that got more evidence in our results were the critical evaluation of information and their sources, the promotion of evaluation between students and the management of required changes. The process of the development of competences and skills on media and information has been happening in a progressive way because those professionals are progressing in relation to the integration of mediatic and informational resources in their pedagogical activities, which has been providing the extension of new methodologies in the classroom. Remarkably, the teachers, in their own words, evidenced their worries and the acknowledgement about the offering of continued formations that are focused on activities that enable the development of competences and skills on the field of MIL. Therefore, we highlight the importance of proposing formations that include the aspects of usage, access, sharing and creation of mediatic and informational contents in the perspective of preparing thoughtful, reflexive and critical citizens.

É entendida como necessária para todo cidadão, além de que estar direcionada a todos os contextos: social, político, cultural e educacional. O presente estudo tem como objetivo geral analisar o processo de Alfabetização Midiática e Informacional presente nas práticas docentes de professores de Biologia. Trata-se de uma pesquisa de abordagem qualitativa e de tipologia estudo de caso, em que os participantes são professores de Biologia que atuam em instituições de educação básica mantidas pela rede estadual no município de Santa Helena-MA. Os dados foram analisados à luz do referencial metodológico da Análise de Conteúdo proposta por Bardin (2016) em que a exploração dos dados coletados nos permitiu estabelecer categorias a priori. Na esfera dos elementos da AMI identificados a partir da realidade dos professores em relação ao acesso às mídias, compreendemos ainda haver dificuldades de acesso aos professores, alunos e nas instituições. Entretanto, a busca pela informação e conteúdo de mídias se faz presente na prática destes professores por meios digitais e impressos para integrar e complementar o trabalho docente. Em relação à caracterização de competências e habilidades da AMI, as que mais se evidenciaram em nossos resultados foram a avaliação crítica das informações e suas fontes e a promoção da avaliação entre os estudantes e o gerenciamento das mudanças requeridas. A dinâmica em volta do desenvolvimento de competências e habilidades em mídia e informação tem acontecido de forma processual e gradativa, pois estes profissionais estão progredindo quanto à integração de recursos midiáticos e informacionais em suas atividades pedagógicas, o que tem proporcionado a ampliação de novos métodos na sala de aula. Notadamente, os professores, em suas palavras, evidenciaram as suas preocupações e reconhecimento quanto ao oferecimento de formação continuada que tenha como foco principal atividades que possibilitem o desenvolvimento de competências e habilidades no campo da AMI.
