Mechanical rhythm (and other traits) on music atthe beginning of the 20th century

Resumo: This paper departs from an epigraph on a short piano piece from 1922 to point out characteristics of the Zeitgeist between the two world wars. Although traditionally Music History presents this period as Modernism or Nationalism, the paper tries to identify and group traces on selected pieces from this period, which make possible to establish homological relationship with the characteristics of the fine arts and the architecture of the period. Even though the historical traditional in the music does not associate the aesthetics of this period to the style modern or style 25, the paper tries to demonstrate the spiritual family of the ensemble of works from the period.

Dans cet article, nous partons d'une épigraphe dans une petite pièce pour piano de 1922 pour chercher à mettre en évidence, dans la musique occidentale, les caractéristiques du Zeitgeist du début du XXe siècle. Bien que l'histoire de la musique occidentale désigne traditionnellement la période comme Modernisme ou Nationalisme, ont cherche à identifier et regrouper des traits dans les œuvres musicales de l'époque qui permettent d'établir des relations d'homologie avec l'ensemble des caractéristiques qui ont marqué les arts plastiques et l'architecture à l'époque. Même si la tradition historiographique de la musique n'associe pas l'esthétique de cette production au style moderne ou au style 25, ont cherche à s'interroger sur l'appartenance esthétique à l'ensemble des œuvres qui ont émergé à l'époque. Neste artigo, parte-se de uma epígrafe em uma pequena peça para piano de 1922, para buscar evidenciar na música características do Zeitgeist do período entre-guerras. Apesar de tradicionalmente a história da música consignar o período como Modernismo ou Nacionalismo, busca-se identificar e agrupar traços em obras musicais do período que permitem estabelecer relações homológicas com o conjunto de características que marcaram as artes plásticas e a arquitetura do período.
