A Woman under the Influence: A body's revolt against domestic space

Resumo: The article examines the creation process and final form of A Woman Under The Influnce (1974) by John Cassavetes, whose invention rests on a poetics of instability. From a more comprehensive discussion of the relationship between the method inaugurated by the filmmaker and the frontier he establishes between cinema and other fields, especially theatre, we then proceeded to an analysis that confronts film with a feminist approach. In film analysis, we will pay attention to the way in which the unstable style of films prolongs, duplicates and unfolds equally unstable dramaturgical realities, which he tended to privilege.

D'une discussion plus approfondie sur le rapport entre la méthode inaugurée par le cinéaste et la frontière qu'il établit entre le cinéma et d'autres domaines, notamment le théâtre, nous sommes ensuite passés à une analyse qui confronte le cinéma à une approche féministe. Dans l'analyse cinématographique, on sera attentif à la manière dont le style instable des films prolonge, duplique et déploie des réalités dramaturgiques également instables, qu'il a eu tendance à privilégier.O artigo examina o processo de criação e a forma final de A Woman Under The Influnce (1974) de John Cassavetes, cuja invenção repousa numa poética da instabilidade. A partir de uma discussão mais abrangente das relações entre o método inaugurado pelo cineasta e a fronteira que ele instaura do cinema com outros campos, sobretudo o teatro, procedemos então à análise que confronta o filme com uma abordagem feminista.
