Resumo: Three editions of an extension project related to museums in the city of Rio de Janeiro and students from the region called “Baixada Fluminense” were accomplished. The basic idea was to foster the contact of students from this region with museums in order to exercise their critical views on artistic, cultural, and social manifestations over time and these reverberates nowadays. Thus this article aims at analyzing this project, its pertinence, scope, and contributions. For this, non-systematic and participant observations were made. The discussions allowed the students to integrate artistic and cultural repertoire, as well as to question the impositions made by society regarding the construction and maintenance of their socio-cultural identity.

O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar esse projeto, sua pertinência, alcance e contribuições. Para tal, foram realizadas observações assistemáticas e participantes.
