Artists, curators and institutions lost and frightened in a darkness filled with too real ghosts : the time of counterpublic and culture wars

Resumo: Electing two publications dedicated to think about the attacks on visual art exhibitions in Brazil, in 2017, this text discusses the readings produced in the immediate sequence of the events, both by art criticism and cultural mediation. Thus, the different dispositions underlying the writings of critical extraction, on the one hand, and mediative bias, on the other, are asked. By prioritizing the outcome of the controversies proposed by the latter one, the present analysis makes use of "counterpublic" and "cultural wars" notions, with a view to producing translations and the political treatment of the phenomenon, seeking to characterize the moralizing subjectivities, based on Christian and family values.

Al priorizar el desdoblamiento de las controversias propuestas por esto último, el presente análisis echa mano sobre las nociones de “contra público” y “guerras culturales”, con vistas a la producción de interpretaciones y al tratamiento político del fenómeno, procurando caracterizar las subjetividades moralizantes, fundadas en los valores cristianos y familiares.Elegendo duas publicações dedicadas a pensar os ataques a exposições de artes visuais no Brasil, em 2017, este texto discute as leituras produzidas na sequência imediata aos eventos, tanto pela crítica de arte como pela mediação cultural. Assim, indagam-se as diferentes disposições subjacentes aos escritos de extração crítica, de um lado, e de viés mediativo, de outro.
