Resumo: This article aims to examine the participation of the Dominican Portuguese José Teixeira in the plot of the False d. Sebastian Venice. Sentenced to death in 1603, the Venetian false king was one of the most significant cases of fake Portuguese kings occurred during the Iberian Union (1580-1640). In turn, the involvement of Friar Teixeira in the case and the subsequent publication of "Adventures admirables" in Paris in 1601, contributed to the establishment and fixation of erudite Sebastianism.
