The dimensions of the Venice School

Resumo: This article provides a historical perspective for the understanding of the “School of Venice”, questioning and discussing its unity, the tensions between the groups that were formed within the institution and pointing out its possible legacy. The sources for the research include the annals of the “Istituto Universitario di Architettura di Venezia”, interviews with current and former professors of the institution and a literature review of authors who have not been published in Brazil. This research seeks to expand the knowledge on this institution beyond what has been established as its main research fields, the typological/morphological and historiographical studies, including their contributions to interventions on historical buildings and pioneering work on the training of urban planners.

As fontes pesquisadas são os anuários do “Istituto Universitario di Architettura di Venezia”, entrevistas com professores e ex-professores dessa instituição e revisão bibliográfica de autores não publicados no Brasil.
