Resumo: This text discusses different theoretical perspectives in order to illuminate the practices that emerge in the interface between religion and leisure, exemplified briefly in the its beginning to circumscribe the discussion. In order to point out issues that sensitize the researcher's perspective, it is evaluated gains and losses from the recreationism, sociology of social times and the resort to culture. It also discusses the opposition between religion and leisure in the horizon of tensions between tradition and modernity and between belief and practice. It concludes that religion not only limits leisure, but can also create leisure alternatives that are only for those who share the same faith.

It concludes that religion not only limits leisure, but can also create leisure alternatives that are only for those who share the same faith.Este texto discute diferentes corrientes teóricas con el objetivo de iluminar prácticas que surgen en la intercesión entre religión y ocio, ejemplificadas brevemente en su inicio a fin de circunscribir la discusión. Con el objetivo de puntuar cuestiones que sensibilizen la mirada del investigador, se evalúa ganancias y pérdidas del recreacionismo, de la sociología de los tiempos sociales y del recurso a la cultura. También trabaja la oposición entre religión y ocio en el horizonte de las tensiones entre tradición y modernidad y entre creencia y práctica. Concluye que la religión no sólo condiciona el ocio, pero también puede crear alternativas de ocio que sólo lo son para aquellos que comparten una misma fe.Este texto discute diferentes correntes teóricas com o objetivo de iluminar práticas que surgem na interface entre religião e lazer, exemplificadas brevemente no seu início a fim de circunscrever a discussão. Com o objetivo de pontuar questões que sensibilizem o olhar do pesquisador, avalia-se ganhos e perdas da perspectiva recreacionista, da sociologia dos tempos sociais e do recurso à cultura. Trabalha ainda a oposição entre religião e lazer no horizonte das tensões entre tradição e modernidade e entre crença e prática.
