BIOPOWER AND RESISTANCE IN THE IMMATERIAL PRODUCTION OF THE 2014 FIFA WORLD CUP

Resumo: The 2014 World Cup was anchored in the promise of benefits for Brazil, in which FIFA and the Brazilian government demonstrated efforts towards obtaining popular acceptance. Thus, the study aimed to analyze how the immaterial production 2014 World Cup 2014 can be characterized based on the both organizers and the Brazilian society discourses. The research was conducted through a Foucauldian Discourse Analysis from a corpus representative of the two discursive positions investigated, having the political theory of Michael Hardt and Antonio Negri as a theoretical lens.The findings point to two discursive formations, referring to the promise that the World Cup is good for Brazil and to the understanding that it did very costly for the country. The conclusion of the study is that the 2014 World Cup can be characterized by the exercise of and resistant to biopower.

Así, el estudio tuvo por objetivo analizar cómo la producción inmaterial de la Copa del Mundo 2014 puede ser caracterizada a partir de los discursos de sus organizadores y de la sociedad brasileña. La investigación fue realizada por medio de un Análisis de Discurso Foucaultiana a partir de un archivo representativo de las dos posiciones discursivas investigadas, teniendo en la teoría política de Michael Hardt y Antonio Negri su lente teórica. Los hallazgos apuntan a dos formaciones discursivas, referentes a la promesa de que la Copa es buena para Brasil y el entendimiento de que ella salió muy costosa para el país. La conclusión del estudio es que la Copa del Mundo 2014 puede ser caracterizada por el ejercicioA Copa do Mundo 2014 foi ancorada na promessa de benefícios para o Brasil, em que FIFA e governo brasileiro demonstraram esforços direcionados à obtenção de aceitação popular. Assim, o estudo teve por objetivo analisar como a produção imaterial da Copa do Mundo 2014 pode ser caracterizada a partir dos discursos de seus organizadores e da sociedade brasileira. A pesquisa foi realizada por meio de uma Análise de Discurso Foucaultiana a partir de um arquivo representativo das duas posições discursivas investigadas, tendo na teoria política de Michael Hardt e Antonio Negri sua lente teórica. Os achados apontam para duas formações discursivas, referentes à promessa de que a Copa é boa para o Brasil e ao entendimento de que ela saiu muito custosa para o país.
