This article aims to analyze the ethical and informational aspects contained in the case of the eighteen giraffes brought by the Rio Biopark establishment from Africa to Brazil, in obscure circumstances, as suggested by the technical note document issued by Ibama. The theoretical framework was made up of a bibliographical survey that covered, mainly, the fields of Information Science and Critical Animalist Studies. However, the absence of publications on the specific event made it necessary to curate, by means of criteria of authority and reliability of sources, materials about the case from news coverage and interviews granted by specialists and researchers. In this sense, we resorted to the concept of "ethics of captivity" proposed by the author Lori Gruen to encourage the debate about the understanding of an environmental education committed to the promotion of critical thinking and based on precepts of ecofeminism
