Resumo: Volunteering has impacted several areas of society, constituting itself as an important civil movement. For this, the volunteer, an unpaid individual who receives intangible rewards, is essential. Thus, this study aims to analyze the factors that motivate members of a non-governmental organization in Fortaleza city (Ceará, Brazil) to work in volunteering. The theme is relevant as these organizations need to broaden their activities and the more they know about the motivations of individuals, the better they can think about their management strategies. Based on the model proposed by Gemelli (2015) and structured from a case study, this research bet on methodological triangulation for data collection. The results show that all categories - personal, social, professional and ideological - manifest among volunteers. Personal factors stand out, with an emphasis on “personal satisfaction” and “desire to be useful”. On the other hand, professional motivations were not relevant.   Keywords: Motivation, Volunteering, Volunteer work, Third Sector, Non-governmental organization.

Palavras-Chave: Motivação, Voluntariado, Trabalho voluntário, Terceiro Setor, Organização não-governamental.CEPEAD/FACE - UFMG2020-08-31info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://ges.face.ufmg.br/index.php/gestaoesociedade/article/view/310410.21171/ges.v14i40.3104Management & Society Electronic Journal; Vol. 14 No. 40 (2020): September/December 2020; 3923-3952Gestão e Sociedade; v. 14 n. 40 (2020): Setembro/Dezembro de 2020; 3923-39521980-575610.21171/ges.v14i40reponame:Gestão e sociedadeinstname:Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG)instacron:UFMGporhttps://ges.face.ufmg.br/index.php/gestaoesociedade/article/view/3104/1484Copyright (c) 2020 Gestão e Sociedadeinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessRodrigues, EdsonRodrigues, LuanaPinho, Ana Paula Moreno2020-09-24T22:50:28Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/3104Revistahttps://www.gestaoesociedade.org/gestaoesociedadePUBhttps://www.gestaoesociedade.org/gestaoesociedade/oaiges@face.ufmg.br||ricardo.ges.ufmg@gmail.com||1980-57561980-5756opendoar:2020-09-24T22:50:28Gestão e sociedade - Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG)false
