Resumo: The objective of this study was to evaluate the production of seedlings of the species Anadenanthera colubrina (Vell.) Brenan, popularly known as Angico Branco, through the use of different alternative substrates. The experiment was carried out in the experimental nursery of Faculdade Santo Agostinho, Campus JK, assembled under a completely randomized design, with four replicates for each treatment, which are: soil; soil + sand (1: 1); carbonized rice husk; coffee grounds and sawdust. After a period of 60 days, the germination percentage, plant height and number of leaves were measured. The results indicated that the substrates soil, soil + sand (1: 1) and carbonized rice husk showed the highest germination rates of Anadenanthera Coubrina seeds, with no statistical differences between them. For the plant height variable, the highest value found was with the soil + sand treatment (1: 1), 7,70 cm, followed by the substrate composed only of soil, whereas in the treatments with residues there was no statistical difference between them. . In the evaluation of the number of leaves, it was observed that higher values were obtained with the treatment composed of soil + sand. The lowest number of leaves was found in the treatments with carbonized rice husks, coffee grounds and sawdust. Among all the substrates, the one with the highest values for the evaluated characteristics was the substrate formulated by soil + sand (1: 1). Among the evaluated residues, the substrate composed of rice husk showed more significant results for the analyzed variables.
