Resumo: Green corn crop has relevant economic and social importance for small and medium farmers, as a source of income and food for both human and animal food. The objective of this study was to evaluate the performance of commercial green corn cultivars for fresh consumption under the edaphoclimatic conditions of Jataí Southwest region of Goiás State, Brazil, in regular and late growing season. The experiments were carried out in a randomized block design with four replications and 10 cultivars. The characteristics evaluated were: plant height, the ear of the corn insertion height, ear diameter and length, commercial yield and soluble solids content. All cultivars evaluated in the late growing season presented characteristics suitable for fresh consumption in the form of green corn, for cultivars cultivated in the regular season, cultivar BM 840 presented the highest ear yield for consumption in the form of green corn.

Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar o desempenho de cultivares comerciais de milho para consumo in natura nas condições edafoclimáticas de Jataí, região Sudoeste do Estado de Goiás nos períodos de safrinha e safra de verão. Os experimentos foram instalados em delineamento de blocos casualizados com quatro repetições e 10 cultivares. Foram avaliadas as características: altura de planta, altura inserção de espiga, diâmetro e comprimento de espigas, produtividade de espigas com palha e sem palha, produtividade comercial e teor de sólidos solúveis.
