The relationship between professors and students in information science: a generational analysis between digital immigrants and digital natives

Resumo: The relationship between digital immigrant professors and native digital students, from the perspective, that natives have greater digital/technological proficiency, prescribes a relevant point of discussion, especially observing whether this proficiency is linked to scientific research practices. The present study aims to explore the educational relationship of professors (digital immigrants) and students (digital natives) under the perception of technological skills in favor of the development of teaching and research in information science. In this direction, it is possible to ponder about the technological management of professors who work in higher education, who are faced with the insertion of individuals of Z generation in the classrooms of Brazilian universities. This scientific work brings a qualitative approach, based on the conceptual treatment of bibliographic, exploratory, and descriptive research. It is believed that university pedagogical innovation, information literacy and alternative methodologies become the main allies for understanding the current context of higher education, to align the different generations, which sometimes clash over technological treatment and its relationship with scientific production. Therefore, it is important to make a cautious reflection in order not to reinforce speeches that do not always match the educational reality of Higher Education institutions but to realize the possibilities and potentialities regarding information science for a convergence of the performance of teachers and students in the environments - educational and social.

O objetivo do presente estudo é prospectar sobre a relação educacional dos docentes (imigrantes digitais) e os discentes (nativos digitais) sob a percepção das competências tecnológicas em prol do desenvolvimento do ensino e da pesquisa na ciência da informação. Nessa direção, é possível ponderar acerca dos manejos tecnológicos dos docentes que atuam na educação superior, os quais se deparam com a inserção de indivíduos da geração Z nas salas de aula das universidades brasileiras. Esse trabalho científico traz uma abordagem qualitativa, se baseando no tratamento conceitual de uma pesquisa bibliográfica, exploratória e descritiva. Acredita-se, que a inovação pedagógica universitária, competência em informação e metodologias alternativas tornam-se os principais aliados para a compreensão da conjuntura atual da educação superior, sob a intenção de um alinhamento das diferentes gerações, que por vezes se embatem sobre o trato tecnológico e a sua relação com a produção científica.
