Scientific productions about distance education and teaching work in this modality: a bibliometric study

Resumo: The objective of this research is to carry out a bibliometric study on the scientific production based on Distance Education. For this purpose, bibliometry was used in the theses present in the database elaborated by Grupo Horizonte of the Federal University of São Paulo. This database contains doctorate researchs of postgraduate programs in Education evaluated with 5, 6 and 7 in the CAPES triennial 2013 evaluation. Through the research, we identified that the scientific production related to Distance Education still represents a tiny part of a universe of theses of postgraduate programs in Education. In addition, the analysis of the bibliographical references of the researches that deal with the teaching work in the modality points out important information: relevance of theoretical referential of other areas; influence of digital media on the sources of bibliographical reference; prominence of indexed journals in the SCiELO database; etc.

Para tanto, lançou-se mão da bibliometria objetivando analisar quantitativamente os metadados das teses presentes na base elaborada pelo Grupo Horizonte da Universidade Federal de São Carlos. Essa base conta com investigações de doutorado de programas de pós-graduação em Educação brasileiros com notas 5, 6 e 7 na avaliação trienal de 2013 da CAPES. Por meio da pesquisa, identifica-se que a produção científica referente à EaD ainda representa uma parcela ínfima no universo de teses de programas de pós-graduação em Educação.
