Relationship between the process of ingression and evasion in the Federal Network of Professional and Technological Education

Resumo: The implantation of the Federal Network of Professional and Technological Education and the expansion of Federal Institutes by the law no. 11.892/2008 increased the number of enrollments and courses in the Brazilian states; however, the institution has been showing high evasion rates. In this context, this article aims to analyze empirical research that addresses in some way the possible relationships established between the procedures adopted in the admission process of these institutions and that may be affecting students’ evasion/permanence. Thus, the main modality of research is the content analysis carried out by consulting different descriptors on the portals of the CAPES, SciELO, and Academic Google, in the period from 2010 to 2020. The results reveal that the main causes of students’ evasion are related to aspects of a personal and pedagogical nature, and also related to unfamiliarity of the program content and the profile of the egress. It is argued that many of the causes of evasion identified can be reversed by qualifying the admission process. It is concluded, therefore, that the institutions of the EPT can improve the relations established with students-workers by qualifying the admission procedures and other conditions related to the permanence, success, and progression of these people.

Entretanto, a instituição vem apresentando elevados índices de evasão. Nesse contexto, o presente artigo objetiva analisar pesquisas empíricas que abordem de alguma forma as possíveis relações estabelecidas entre os procedimentos adotados no processo de ingresso das referidas instituições e que possam estar afetando a evasão/permanência dos estudantes. Assim, a modalidade principal de pesquisa é a análise de conteúdo realizada pela consulta de diferentes descritores nos portais da CAPES, SciELO e Google Acadêmico, no período de 2010 a 2020. Os resultados revelam que as principais causas da evasão dos estudantes estão relacionadas a aspectos de ordem pessoal, pedagógicos, e também ao desconhecimento do conteúdo programático e do perfil de egresso. Defende-se que muitas das causas de evasão apontadas podem ser revertidas, qualificando-se o processo de ingresso.
