Initial teacher education in the COVID-19 pandemic: a case study on School Cartography

Resumo: In this article, we investigate the School Cartography discipline inserted in a Degree in Pedagogy course that went from face-to-face to remote teaching in the context of COVID-19. As an analytical-descriptive case study with a qualitative approach, the objective of the investigation was to diagnose the main confrontations of the teacher and the students. Theoretical and methodological procedures are based on research on teacher education and Cartography for Children in Brazil. Data were collected through a questionnaire applied to students who took the course, as well as their assessment activities. The results point to imposed limits, mainly by the absence of face-to-face and collective practical situations, difficulties with the use of new technological tools and, on the other hand, by the renewal of the discipline, considering the expansion of the students' repertoires and the reframing of notions and cartographic concepts in school practices.

La investigación se configura como un estudio de caso analítico-descriptivo con un enfoque cualitativo, el objetivo de la investigación fue diagnosticar los principales enfrentamientos de la profesora y sus estudiantes. Los procedimientos teórico-metodológicos se basan en investigaciones sobre la formación del profesorado y la Cartografía para Niños y Escolares, en Brasil. Los datos se recopilaron a través de un cuestionario aplicado a estudiantes que asistieron a la asignatura. Los resultados señalan algunos límites impuestos, principalmente por la ausencia de situaciones prácticas de aula en persona y dificultades en el uso de herramientas informáticas. Por otro lado, hemos constatado la posibilidad de reconducción de la asignatura teniendo en cuenta ampliar el repertorio de los estudiantes y su resignificación de importantes conceptos cartográficos en las prácticas escolares.Neste trabalho investigamos a disciplina de Cartografia Escolar inserida num curso de Licenciatura em Pedagogia que passou da modalidade presencial para o ensino remoto no contexto da COVID-19. Como um estudo de caso analítico-descritivo com abordagem qualitativa, o objetivo da investigação foi diagnosticar os principais enfrentamentos da docente e dos seus estudantes. Os procedimentos teórico-metodológicos estão assentados em pesquisas sobre formação de professores e Cartografia para Crianças e Escolares no Brasil. Os dados foram colhidos por meio de questionário aplicado aos alunos que cursaram a disciplina.
