Resumo: | This text is the result of an interview with professor Ana Maria Araújo Freire (Nita Freire) about the life and work of Paulo Freire (1921-1997), due to the 100th anniversary of the author's birth. The interview focused on the legacy of Freire’s thoughts for Brazilian education in general, and for higher education in a specific way. Conducted electronically in May 2021 – in the context of the covid-19 pandemic –, the interview was led with a semi-structured questionnaire, previously forwarded to Nita Freire, who answered the questions and commented on them. Through the interview, the extent of Paulo Freire's theory of knowledge is observed, which is the basis for thinking about an emancipatory and transformative education in various contexts, including universities. |

La entrevista se centró en el legado del pensamiento freiriano para la educación brasileña en general, y para la educación superior de una manera específica. Realizada electrónicamente en mayo de 2021 – en el contexto de la pandemia de covid-19 –, la entrevista se realizó con un cuestionario semiestructurado, previamente remitido a Nita Freire, quien respondió a las preguntas y las comentó. A través de la entrevista, se observa la amplitud de la teoría del conocimiento de Paulo Freire, que se basa en pensar en una educación emancipadora y transformadora en diversos contextos, incluyendo las universidades.Este texto é resultado de entrevista com a professora Ana Maria Araújo Freire (Nita Freire) sobre a vida e a obra de Paulo Freire (1921-1997), em razão da comemoração de 100 anos do nascimento do autor. Focalizou-se o legado do pensamento freiriano para a educação brasileira, em geral, e para o ensino superior, de maneira específica. Efetuada por meio eletrônico em maio de 2021 – no contexto da pandemia da covid-19 –, a entrevista foi realizada com roteiro semiestruturado, previamente encaminhado à Nita Freire, que respondeu às questões e comentou-as.
