Decision in a scenario of uncertainty: report of an experience of adaptation from face-to-face teaching to emergency remote teaching in a postgraduate course

Resumo: This paper analyzes the decision-making process in a high uncertainty scenario. It takes place in a postgraduate course at a public federal university caused by the covid-19 pandemic. The referred course question is usually offered in the face-to-face modality, but, given the pandemic scenario, it had to adapt its activities to the emergency remote format. As it was the first course of this university to enter the remote format, some actions were necessary to minimize the impact on students, secretary and professors. It was found that the consultation and participation of those involved in the course (i.e. managers, administrative staff, faculty and students) in the decision-making process contributed to a higher success rate of implemented measures and a lower rate of student dissatisfaction.

El curso en cuestión solía ofrecerse de manera presencial, pero tuvo que adaptar sus actividades al formato a distancia y en emergencia ante el escenario de pandemia. Al ser el primer curso de esta universidad en ingresar al formato remoto de emergencia, fueron necesarias algunas acciones para minimizar el impacto en estudiantes, secretaria y docentes. Se encontró que la consulta y participación de los involucrados en el curso (directivos, administrativos, profesores y estudiantes) en el proceso de toma de decisiones contribuyó a una mayor tasa de éxito de las medidas implementadas y una menor tasa de insatisfacción de los estudiantes.O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar o processo de tomada de decisão no cenário de alta incerteza em um curso de pós-graduação lato sensu de uma universidade pública federal, em decorrência da pandemia da covid-19. O curso em questão costumava ser ofertado na modalidade presencial, mas teve de adaptar suas atividades para o formato remoto emergencial diante do cenário pandêmico. Como foi o primeiro curso desta universidade a entrar no formato remoto emergencial, algumas ações eram necessárias para minimizar o impacto nos alunos, secretaria e professores.
