Resumo: We examine the understanding of attention by Paul Ricœur based on his article entitled The attention and the first tome of Freedom and nature. We focus on elucidating the relationship of attention with perceptibility in the light of the phenomenological precept of intentionality, and on the link between activity and passivity. From this, we approach the internal thematic bond of attention with the philosopher's concern about time and duration, besides exposing the vicissitudes of the attentive perception between anticipation and astonishment, between the unheard and the instituted. One of Ricœur's main conclusions about attention is to affirm that its essence lies in the search for the naivety of the senses.
