Resumo: The purpose of this research was to verify the obstetric and neonatal problems presented by adolescents and their children. This is a quantitative and analytic retrospective study, of 50 hospital files, and the data are presented in full numbers and percentages. The mainly obstetric problems presented by the adolescents in the labor room were the prolonged pregnancy and fetal suffering and during the puerperium, breastfeeding problems, especially nipple excoriation. The main problems presented by the newborn were low weight and neonatal jaundice. These data do not show high level risk to the adolescent mothers and their newborn babies.

These data do not show high level risk to the adolescent mothers and their newborn babies.El objeto de este estudio es identificar los casos obstétricos y neonatales ocurridos entre las adolescentes y sus recién nacidos (RNs) de un hospital universitario de São Paulo entre agosto y septiembre de 1998. Se efectuó un análisis retrospectivo, cuantitativo y analítico de 50 legajos médicos, cuyos datos se muestran en números absolutos y en porcentajes. Los principales casos obstétricos en la sala de partos fueron fecha posterior y sufrimiento fetal y, en el puerperio, los referentes a las mamas, con relieve para la herida mamilar. Los principales casos entre los RNs fueron el bajo peso al nacer y la ictericia, no caracterizados como riesgos graves para la pareja.O estudo objetivou identificar as intercorrências obstétricas e neonatais entre adolescentes e seus recém-nascidos de um hospital universitário da cidade de São Paulo, no período de agosto a setembro de 1998. Para isso, foi realizada uma análise retrospectiva, quantitativa e analítica de 50 prontuários hospitalares, cujos dados são apresentados em números percentuais. As principais intercorrências obstétricas na sala de parto foram o pós-datismo e o sofrimento fetal; no puerpério, as mamárias, com destaque para a escoriação mamilar. As principais intercorrências apresentadas pelos recém-nascidos foram o baixo peso ao nascer e a icterícia neonatal.
