Resumo: | This is a qualitative research that aimed to understand the meaning for the mothers of having a child with a nutritional disorder. The use of Phenomenology as methodology allowed us to capture the essence of the phenomenon from the spe eches of 16 mothers. Data collection was conducted through interviews directed to the children's mothers/caretakers guided by the question: "Tell us what it means to you to have a child with a weight problem."The mothers' discourse allowed the definition of four categories of meaning: attention to child's fe eding; comparison with other children; concern for child's weight and health care professional's support. This research will assist the follow-up care of a child with nutrition problems in order to subsidize an educational proposal and contribute to proper and humane care that focuses on the fe elings of mothers of children with a nutritional disorder. |

Como trayecto metodológico se utilizó la fenomenología que, como camino, nos ha permitido comprender la esencia del fenómeno a partir de los discursos de 16 madres. La recogida de datos fue realizada por medio de entrevista con las madres/responsables de los niños, guiada por la pregunta: "Dígame lo que significa para usted tener un hijo con problemas de peso': Los discursos de las madres nos permitieran construir cuatro categorías de análisis: Atención a la alimentación del hijo; Comparando el hijo con otros niños; Preocupación con el peso del hijo y Apoyo del profesional de salud. Se cre e que esta investigación tal vez pueda ayudar en la organización del servicio de seguimiento de niños con disturbio nutricional de forma que se promueva una propuesta educativa y contribuya a la atención adecuada y humanizada, con enfoque en los sentimientos de las madres que tienen niños con disturbio nutricional.Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa cujo objetivo foi compreender o significado, para as mães, de ter um filho com distúrbio nutricional. Como trajetória metodológica, utilizamos a fenomenologia, que, como um caminho, nos permitiu apreender a essência do fenômeno com base nos discursos de 16 mães. A coleta de dados foi realizada por meio de entrevista direcionada às mães/responsáveis pelas crianças, guiada pela questão: Conta para nós o que é, para você, ter um filho com problema de peso. Os discursos das mães permitiram construir quatro categorias de análise: Atenção à alimentação do filho; Comparando o filho com outras crianças; Preocupação com o peso do filho; e Apoio do profissional de saúde.
