Resumo: | In 1996, the "Santa Casa de Belo Horizonte" Hospital implemented a Management System called SIGESC in order to: facilitate the work, optimize resources and qualify the services provided. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to describe the process of implementation of this new management system, emphasizing some proposed organizational changes. The hospital financial and administrative crisis was a determinant in the implementation of SIGESC. The creation of its own health plan aimed at generating funds and finding a balance in hospital finances. The functions were reviewed based on the administrative decentralization, forming business units, managed by nurses called: assistance managers. |

El objetivo de este artículo es describir el proceso de implantación de este nuevo sistema de gestión destacando algunos cambios organizacionales propuestos: la crisis financiera y administrativa del hospital fue determinante para implantar el SIGESC; se creó un plan de salud propio para generar beneficios y lograr el equilibrio financiero del hospital y, con base en la descentralización administrativa, se reestructuró el organigrama y se formaron unidades de negocio gestionadas por enfermeros, llamados gerentes asistenciales.Em 1996, a Santa Casa de Belo Horizonte, implantou o "SIGESC" (Sistema de Gestão da Santa Casa) visando agilizar o trabalho, otimizar recursos e qualificar os serviços prestados. Neste artigo pretendemos descrever o processo de implantação deste novo sistema de gestão, destacando algumas mudanças organizacionais propostas. A crise financeira e administrativa do hospital foi determinante para a implantação do SIGESC. A criação de um plano de saúde próprio teve o objetivo de gerar receitas, visando o equilíbrio financeiro do hospital.
