Resumo: It is a qualitative study which sought to analyze the identification of managing nurses with the organization in which they work. The data was collected in a large hospital. The subjects of research were 10 nurses in management positions. The results showed the existence of material, economic, affective, professional, ideological and psychological bonds. The material economic bonds were determining in the nurses' decision to take on the managerial position. It was noted that, in spite of reporting conflicts in their work routine, the managers considered their job gratifying, enabling them to grow and develop personally and professionally.
