Resumo: | OBJECTIVE: to analyze the perception of adolescents from a public school in Petrolina - PE on immunization. METHODS: a qualitative, exploratory and descriptive study, developed at a state school, as it is a reference for the public high school in Petrolina. The subjects were 14 adolescents enrolled in this school. For data collection it was used a semi-structured interview and simple observation focused on the adolescents vaccine cards, based on the of Bardin's content analysis. Only 03 adolescents had the card. RESULTS: the adolescents were of both sexes, with ages rangingfrom 14 to 17 years old. They knew about the purpose and importance of immunization, although they showed a lack of knowledge regarding vaccine indications. As for the vaccination status, the majority reported having complete immunization schedule, however, after observing some immunization cards, it was noticed that vaccines, such as hepatitis B, were missing. CONCLUSIONS: strategies in health education are necessary for a better perception of the adolescents regarding the importance of vaccines in this cycle of life. In this context, the school stands as a privileged place for developing these strategies, aiming for health promotion and disease prevention. |

Se trata de un estudio cualitativo exploratorio y descriptivo, llevado a cabo en una escuela estatal referencia en enseñanza secundaria pública de Petrolina. Los sujetos fueron 14 adolescentes inscritos en dicha escuela. La recogida de datos se realizó mediante la entrevista semi-estructurada y la observación directa, con foco en la cartilla de vacunación de los adolescentes, a la luz del análisis de contenido de Bardin. Sólo tres adolescentes presentaron la cartilla. Los adolescentes eran de los dos sexos y tenían entre 14 y 17 años. Conocían la finalidad e importancia de la inmunización pero no supieron indicar las vacunas. La mayoría afirmó estar con las vacunas al día pero en las cartillas faltaban algunas tales como la de hepatitis B. Se necesitan estrategias de educación en salud para que los adolescentes tengan mejor percepción sobre la importancia de las vacunas en tal ciclo de vida. En este contexto, la escuela es el lugar privilegiado para desarrollar dichas estrategias con miras a promover la salud y prevenir enfermedades.OBJETIVO: analisar a percepção de adolescentes de uma escola pública de Petrolina - PE sobre imunização. MÉTODOS: estudo qualitativo, exploratório e descritivo, desenvolvido em uma escola estadual, por se tratar de uma referência no ensino médio público de Petrolina. Os sujeitos foram 14 adolescentes matriculados nessa escola. Para coleta de dados, utilizou-se a entrevista semiestruturada e a observação simples com foco no cartão de vacina dos adolescentes, à luz da análise de conteúdo de Bardin. Apenas três adolescentes apresentaram o cartão. RESULTADOS: os adolescentes eram de ambos os sexos, com idade que variou entre 14 e 17 anos. Demonstraram conhecer a finalidade e a importância da imunização, embora tenham apresentado déficit de conhecimento em relação à indicação das vacinas. Quanto ao estado vacinal, a maioria referiu estar com o esquema completo, entretanto, após a observação de alguns cartões de vacina, notou-se que faltavam vacinas como a hepatite B. CONCLUSÕES: fazem-se necessárias estratégias de educação em saúde para melhor percepção dos adolescentes quanto à importância das vacinas nesse ciclo da vida.
