Resumo: This is a descriptive study with qualitative approach that aims to identify the factors that influence the process of aging with quality of life. This research is according to the perception of elderly participants in social groups for the aged in the municipal district of Erechim, RS. The twelve co-coordinators of the groups that took part in this study answered the following question: which are the factors that influence the process of aging with quality of life? The interviews occurred from January to February 2008. The analysis of the data has allowed the identification of seven categories: decent retirement, relationships, physical and mental health, freedom to manage one's own life, spirituality, the need of government policies. The factors identified by the elderly correspond to their daily experiences that present a political, social, economic, and spiritual character

Participaron 12 coordinadoras de grupos que contestaron la siguiente pregunta: ¿Qué factores que influyen en el envejecimiento para tener calidad de vida? Las entrevistas ocurrieron en enero y febrero de 2008. En el análisis se identificaron 7 categorías: jubilación decente, relaciones, familia, salud física y mental, libertad para manejar su propia vida, espiritualidad y necesidad de políticas gubernamentales. Los factores identificados por las personas mayores corresponden a sus necesidades y a las vivencias cotidianas, con un carácter político, social, económico, espiritual y de ciudadaníaTrata-se de um estudo descritivo com abordagem qualitativa que objetivou identificar os fatores que influenciam no envelhecimento com qualidade de vida, de acordo com a percepção de idosos participantes de grupos de terceira idade no município de Erechim-RS. Participaram do estudo 12 coordenadoras de grupos, que responderam a uma questão norteadora: Quais são os fatores que influenciam para que se tenha um envelhecimento com qualidade de vida? As entrevistas ocorreram de janeiro a fevereiro 2008. A análise permitiu identificar sete categorias: aposentadoria digna, relacionamentos, a família, saúde física e mental, liberdade de gerenciar a própria vida, espiritualidade a necessidade de políticas governamentais.
