Challenges and difficulties faced by nurses atthe beginning of their career

Resumo: During their training, a great number of nursing students idealize the way they are going to stand out before the nursing staff and how they are going to be recognized professionally. It is however at the beginning of their professional career that the problems a rise. The research purpose was to identify the difficulties faced by nurses in their first professional experience and to recognize how they overcome such difficulties. The study was carried out in a Private Nursing School located in the Northwest of the State of Paraná with the nursing teachers of that institution. It is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach of the type opinion poll. Data was collected through a semi-structured questionnaire with open and closed ended questions. The research demonstrated that a great number of nurses had problems such as: insecurity, lack of practice, difficulties with the hospital administration and leadership. According to the interviewees these difficulties could be overcome by daily professional practice, constant study, and the advice and help from more experienced professionals. We concluded that the graduation courses and apprenticeships carried out during the formal nursing education course do not fully prepare the nursing students to the world of work. The recently graduate nurse cannot be considered a finished product; he/she needs training and incentive to carry out his/her duties

Sin embargo, al iniciar la carrera, surgen los inconvenientes. En esta investigación se buscó conocer las dificultades enfrentadas por los docentes enfermeros en su primer vínculo profesional y cómo superar tales obstáculos. El estudio se realizó en un instituto particular de enseñanza en el NO del Estado de Paraná con sus docentes enfermeros. Se trata de una encuesta cualitativa descriptiva. Los datos se recogieron mediante un cuestionario semiestructurado con preguntas abiertas y cerradas. En el estudio se comprobó que la mayoría de los profesionales encuentra varios obstáculos, entre ellos inseguridad, falta de práctica, problemas en la administración hospitalaria y liderazgo. Según los entrevistados las dificultades se enfrentan con las actividades del día a día, buscando conocimiento con dedicación y con la ayuda de profesionales con experiencia para aclarar las dudas. Se concluye que el curso degrado y las pasantías no bastan para que los profesionales enfrenten el mercado laboral. El enfermero recién graduado no puede ser considerado como un producto listo y acabado; precisa capacitación, incentivo y participación para desempeñar su función en la institución empleadoraDurante a graduação, grande parte dos acadêmicos de enfermagem idealiza formas de como se destacar perante a equipe de enfermagem e realizar-se profissionalmente, porém, ao iniciar a carreira profissional é que surgem as dificuldades. O desenvolvimento desta pesquisa teve por finalidade conhecer quais as dificuldades encontradas pelos docentes-enfermeiros em seu primeiro vínculo profissional e de que maneira superaram tais problemas. O estudo foi realizado em uma instituição particular de ensino no noroeste do Paraná, englobando os docentes-enfermeiros da instituição. Trata-se de um estudo descritivo, com abordagem qualitativa, do tipo pesquisa de opinião Para a coleta de dados, utilizou-se um questionário semiestruturado com questões abertas e fechadas. Neste estudo, verificou-se que a maioria dos profissionais encontrou dificuldades, sendo as principais: insegurança, falta de prática, dificuldades na administração hospitalar e liderança. Os entrevistados mencionaram como forma de enfrentar essas dificuldades o desenvolvimento de atividades diárias, a busca do conhecimento, dedicação para superar os obstáculos e ajuda de profissionais experientes para o esclarecimento de dúvidas. Portanto conclui-se que somente a graduação e os estágios realizados durante o curso não formam os profissionais para iniciarem no mercado de trabalho.
