Resumo: | Professional education is a very important strategic element for the construction of citizenship and for the fortification of the bases of professional nursing regarding the new demands of the profession. It is a qualitative study that aims at carrying out an Integrative Literature Review of researches developed from 1998 to 2008 on Professional Nursing Education, identifying and discussing directions for the practice. The selected publications evidenced three main themes: Professional education as a necessity; Professional Education as a challenge; Directions for professional nursing education. The publications indicate that nursing experience the demands of professional transformation. However, there are confrontations related to the integration between theory and practice through the association of science, practical skills and empirical experiences. In this context, education becomes a daily and revolutionizing practice of the professional performance. |

Se trata de un estudio con enfoque cualitativo, teniendo como objetivo realizar una Revisión Integradora de la Literatura sobre investigaciones desarrolladas entre 1998 y 2008 sobre Educación Profesional en Enfermería, evidenciando y discutiendo directivas para la práctica. De las publicaciones seleccionadas surgieron tres temas: Educación profesional como necesidad, Educación profesional como desafío y Rumbos para la educación profesional en enfermería. Las publicaciones apuntan que la enfermería vivencia las demandas de transformación profesional. Sin embargo, persisten enfrentamientos en cuanto a la integración entre el saber y la práctica con la asociación de la ciencia, las aptitudes prácticas y las experiencias empíricas. En este contexto, la educación se convierte en una práctica diaria y revolucionaria de la actuación profesional.A educação profissional reveste-se de importância como elemento estratégico para a construção da cidadania e do fortalecimento das bases profissionais da enfermagem diante das novas demandas da profissão. Trata-se de um estudo com abordagem qualitativa, tendo como objetivo realizar uma revisão integrativa de literatura das pesquisas desenvolvidas no período entre 1998 e 2008 sobre educação profissional em enfermagem, evidenciando e discutindo os direcionamentos para a prática. Das publicações selecionadas, foram evidenciadas três temáticas: "Educação profissional como necessidade", "Educação profissional como desafio" e "Rumos para a educação profissional em enfermagem".
