Resumo: Plato considered the common good as a unifying instance of community life in the polis and, therefore, as a fundamental objective towards which laws, the State and citizens should converge. The community sense in the search for the common good in Plato’s Laws is decisively opposed to the atomization of contemporary life. The objective of this article is to investigate how Plato mobilizes the common good as the main purpose of the set of laws (nomoi) of the polis. To this end, it begins with a brief introduction to the normative framework in the Dialogue As Leis and its teleological relationship with the common good. It then unravels two mechanisms involved in the construction of the common good: education and state regulation of the distribution of wealth. Afterwards, it seeks to summarize the main aspects of what constitutes the common good for Plato. Finally, it concludes with the need to rescue the notion of common good as a prominent philosophical-political category for the construction of a new society.

El objetivo de este artículo es investigar cómo Platón moviliza el bien común como finalidad principal del conjunto de leyes (nomoi) de la polis. Para ello, se inicia con una breve introducción al marco normativo del Diálogo As Leis y su relación teleológica con el bien común. Luego desentraña dos mecanismos involucrados en la construcción del bien común: la educación y la regulación estatal de la distribución de la riqueza. Posteriormente se busca resumir los principales aspectos de lo que constituye el bien común para Platón. Finalmente, se concluye con la necesidad de rescatar la noción de bien común como categoría filosófico-política destacada para la construcción de una nueva sociedad.Platão considerava o bem comum como instância unificadora da vida em comunidade na pólis e, por isso, como objetivo fundamental para o qual as leis, o Estado e os cidadãos deveriam convergir. O sentido comunitário na busca do bem comum d’As Leis de Platão se contrapõe decisivamente à atomização da vida contemporânea. O objetivo deste artigo é investigar como Platão mobiliza o bem comum finalidade precípua do conjunto de leis (nomoi) da pólis. Para tanto, inicia com uma breve introdução sobre o arcabouço normativo no Diálogo As Leis e sua relação teleológica com o bem comum. Em seguida, destrincha dois mecanismos da obra para a construção do bem comum: a educação e a regulação estatal da distribuição da riqueza. Após, busca sintetizar os principais aspectos do que constitui o bem comum para Platão.
