Towards a methodological framework for vocal behavior analysis in popular singing

Resumo: We present in this article a methodological framework that combines tools capable of facilitating understanding of choices and interpretive intentions in Popular Singing, as well as perceiving semantic outcomes resulting from vocal procedures and their relationship with other elements of the song. The methodology covers physiological, acoustic, aesthetic, semiotic, and musical aspects. To achieve this, we use concepts and procedures from the semiotics of the song, the emotional qualities of the voice, understanding of musical moments and sound units. Finally, we apply the proposal, which will be experimented through the analysis of distinct interpretations of the same song, and we analyze the construction of the interpretive gesture and the meanings that emerge from the relationships that unfold in the song's plot.

La metodología abarca aspectos fisiológicos, acústicos, estéticos, semióticos y musicales. Para ello, utilizamos los conceptos y procedimientos de la semiótica de la canción, las cualidades emotivas de la voz, la comprensión del momento musical y la unidad sonora. Por último, aplicamos la propuesta, que será experimentada mediante el análisis de diferentes interpretaciones de una misma canción, y analizamos la construcción del gesto interpretativo y los sentidos que emergen de las relaciones que se despliegan en la trama cancional de las obras.Apresentamos neste artigo um alinhavo metodológico que une ferramentas capazes de agenciar entendimentos quanto às escolhas e intenções interpretativas em Canto Popular, além de perceber resultantes semânticas advindas de procedimentos vocais e da relação destes com outros elementos da canção.  A metodologia abrange aspectos fisiológicos, acústicos, estéticos, semióticos e musicais. Para isso, acionamos os conceitos e procedimentos da semiótica da canção, das qualidades emotivas da voz, o entendimento sobre momento musical e unidade sonora.
