The criticism of conservatory-like perspectives: interfaces between the music education in Portugal and Brazil

Resumo: This paper aims to understand how the pedagogical perspectives marked by technicist features are discussed in two journals, Revista da ABEM and Revista Portuguesa de Educação Musical. Drawing on the contributions offered by social realism in the field of sociology of education, a corpus of papers has been selected and submitted to content analysis. In the debates held in both countries, interfaces of vital issues to contemporary music education could be identified. In parallel, the social-realist framework instigates the understanding and criticism of conservatory-like practices, thereby strengthening the movements towards a consistent and democratized music education.

A partir de las aportaciones que ofrece el realismo social dentro de la sociología de la educación, se seleccionó un corpus de artículos, sobre el que se realizó un análisis de contenido. En los debates celebrados en ambos países, se identificaron interfaces de cuestiones fundamentales para la educación musical en la época contemporánea. Al mismo tiempo, el referencial social-realista instiga la comprensión y la crítica de las prácticas en conservatorios, fortaleciendo los movimientos por una educación musical coherente y democratizada.O artigo procura compreender como as perspectivas pedagógicas de cunho tecnicista são discutidas em dois periódicos, a Revista da ABEM e a Revista Portuguesa de Educação Musical. A partir das contribuições oferecidas pelo social-realismo no âmbito da sociologia da educação, selecionou-se um corpus de artigos, sobre o qual recaiu uma análise de conteúdo. Nos debates travados em ambos os países, foram identificadas interfaces de questões centrais à educação musical na contemporaneidade.
