UNIVERSITY-COMPANY INTERACTION FOR REAL CASE-BASED TEACHING IN ENGINEERING

Resumo: | The content of a Quality Management subject in Production Engineering courses tends to be developed mostly without relating theory to practical activities. To demonstrate that the use of real cases can enhance the teaching of this curricular content, the experience reported in this paper was developed. This is an action research developed from a partnership project between an automotive industry company and a public university with the purpose of bringing cases of real problems directly or indirectly related to the subject of quality management in a Production Engineering undergraduate course. Cases and training were elaborated to be applied in the classroom, a final project that required group work and constant contact with the company to evaluate the progress of the project according to reports and schedule, expository lessons, and literature from the subarea of Quality Management as a theoretical basis. Based on this experience, it is possible to state that it is possible to successfully establish university-company partnerships for the development of joint actions in the scope of undergraduate engineering education. The company has shown itself willing to this partnership with a focus on the education of graduates in Production Engineering, and aspects related to possible barriers regarding execution time and expected results were aspects that encouraged the process. Also, the students became more interested in the content of the discipline showing autonomy and growing responsibility as co-responsible for the creation and construction of knowledge. |

Para demostrar que el uso de casos reales puede mejorar la enseñanza de estos contenidos curriculares, se desarrolló la experiencia que se relata en este trabajo. Se trata de una investigación-acción desarrollada a partir de un proyecto de colaboración entre una empresa del sector de la automoción y una universidad pública con el objetivo de aportar casos de problemas reales relacionados directa o indirectamente con la asignatura. Se elaboraron casos y entrenamientos para ser aplicados en el aula, un proyecto final de trabajo en grupo y contacto constante con la empresa para evaluar el avance del proyecto según informes y cronograma, clases expositivas como base teórica de la subárea de Gestión de la Calidad. A partir de esta experiencia, se puede afirmar que es posible establecer con éxito colaboraciones universidad-empresa para el desarrollo de acciones conjuntas en el ámbito de la enseñanza de grado de Ingeniería. La empresa se mostró dispuesta a esta colaboración con un enfoque en la formación de licenciados en Ingeniería de Producción y los aspectos relacionados con las posibles barreras en cuanto al tiempo de ejecución y los resultados esperados fueron aspectos que animaron el proceso. También los alumnos se interesaron más por el contenido de la asignatura mostrando autonomía y creciente responsabilidad como corresponsables de la creación y construcción del conocimiento.O conteúdo de uma disciplina de Gestão da Qualidade nos cursos de Engenharia de Produção tende a ser desenvolvido majoritariamente sem relacionar a teoria com atividades práticas. Para demonstrar que o uso de casos reais pode potencializar o ensino desse conteúdo curricular, desenvolveu-se e experiência relatada neste trabalho. Trata-se de uma pesquisa-ação desenvolvida a partir de um projeto de parceria entre uma empresa da indústria automotiva e uma universidade pública com o propósito de trazer casos de problemas reais relacionados direta ou indiretamente à ementa da disciplina de gestão da qualidade de um bacharelado em Engenharia de Produção. Elaboraram-se casos e treinamentos para serem aplicados em sala de aula, um projeto final que exigiu o trabalho em grupo e constante contato com a empresa para avaliação do avanço do projeto conforme relatórios e cronograma, aulas expositivas com o uso da literatura da subárea de Gestão da Qualidade como base teórica. Com base nesta experiência, cabe-se afirmar que é possível estabelecer com sucesso parcerias universidade-empresa para o desenvolvimento de ações conjuntas no âmbito do ensino de graduação de Engenharia. A empresa mostrou-se disposta à referida parceria com foco na formação de egressos em Engenharia de Produção, sendo que aspectos relacionados a possíveis barreiras quanto ao tempo de execução e resultados esperados foram aspectos de incentivo ao processo.
