The mandible is the only mobile bone of the face, with two joints and complex muscle insertions, whose mechanisms of action are to be understood by the maxillofacial surgeons. Mandible fractures account for about two thirds of facial fractures. The mandibular angle fractures account for about 20% to 36% of all mandibular fractures. The ideal treatment for mandibular angle fractures is remains controversial and can be performed by intra or extraoral access, currently giving preference to the first, because it is an access with lower morbidity and allowing adequate reduction and fixation of the fracture. There are several techniques related to fixation of these fractures, which include open and closed reduction using reduction lag screws type, dynamic compression plates, 2.4 of the system reconstruction plates, a plate of 2.0 in the external oblique line system (Technical Champy), two sheets of 2.0 monocortical screws and, more recently, the use of grid plates.
