A amostra compôs-se de 135 escolares divididos em quatro grupos: Grupo experimental 1 – GE1 (n=33; 10,7±0,47) e Grupo controle 1 – GC1 (n=30; 10,73±0,45); Grupo experimental 2 – GE2 (n=37; 12,65±0,48); e grupo controle 2 – GC2 (n=35; 12,8±0,41). O protocolo instrucional resultou no tratamento didático do conteúdo aplicado longitudinalmente, num período de 43 semanas, com 38 sessões de aula. Realizou-se as medidas das variáveis dependentes em cinco momentos (pré-teste 1, pós-teste1, retenção 1/préteste 2, pós-teste2 e retenção 2). Aplicou-se um questionário demográfico, e as sessões de aula foram filmadas e posteriormente categorizadas. Para a avaliação das variáveis dependentes utilizaram-se os seguintes instrumentos: Teste de Coordenação Motora com Bola, Teste de Conhecimento Tático Declarativo no handebol, Teste de Conhecimento Tático Processual – Orientação Esportiva e Game Performance Assessment Instrument. Após à análise da normalidade dos dados pelo teste Shapiro Wilk, recorreu-se a estatística descritiva (mediana e intervalo interquartílico) e estatística inferencial (teste de Wilcoxon, Mann-Whitney, Qui-quadrado). Os resultados reportaram que ambos os grupos experimentais (10-12 anos e 12-14 anos) apresentaram diferenças significativas para as variáveis de coordenação motora, conhecimento tático declarativo e processual e na performance de jogo, considerando o efeito tempo. Ambos os sexos, nos grupos experimentais, apresentaram tamanhos de efeito entre médio e grande após a aplicação do programa de ensino nas variáveis analisadas. Conclui-se que o modelo de ensino da IEU aplicado ao handebol foi capaz de contribuir para o desenvolvimento da coordenação motora e dos conhecimentos, declarativo e processual, dos alunos em diferentes faixas etárias.The study analyzed the effects of a handball teaching program, based on the methodological proposal of the Iniciação Esportiva Universal, in motor coordination and tactical-technical performance of schoolchildren in age differences. The sample consisted of 135 students divided into four groups: Experimental group 1- EG1 – (n=33; 10.7±0.47) and control group 1 – CG1 (n=30; 10.73±0.45); Experimental group 2 - EG2 (n=37; 12.65±0.48); and control group 2 - CG2 (n=35; 12.8±0.41). The instructional protocol resulted in the didactic treatment of the content applied longitudinally, in a period of 43 weeks, with 38 sessions of classes. The dependent variables were measured in five moments (pre-test 1, post-test1, retention 1/pre-test 2, post-test2 and retention 2). A demographic questionnaire was applied, and the class sessions were filmed and later categorized. For the evaluation of dependent variables, the following instruments were used: Motor Coordination Test with Ball, Declarative Tactical Knowledge Test in handball, Tactical Procedural Knowledge Test and Game Performance Assessment Instrument. After analyzing the normality of the data by the Shapiro Wilk test, descriptive statistics (median and interquartile interval) and inferential statistics (Wilcoxon test, Mann-Whitney, Chi-square) were used. The results reported that both experimental groups (10-12 years and 12-14 years) showed significant differences for the variables of motor coordination, declarative and procedural tactical knowledge and in the performance of the game, considering the effect of time.
