Resumo: This paper describes a didactic sequence focusing on teaching by research, for seventh grade students in a public school in the municipality of Ibirité/MG. The aim of the experimental investigative activities was to foster scientific literacy and enable them to understand the process of photosynthesis in an integral and contextualized way. The study was developed from a qualitative research under the perspective of action research, the construction of the data consisted of the analysis of student reports, field diary, recorded audio and photographic recordings made during the five stages of the didactic sequence. From the analysis of the data we can suggest the existence of the difficulty in working the investigative teaching in science classes from a restrictive and limited educational system, however showed potentiality to enable the protagonism of the student and the development of important skills for the construction of meaningful learning.

A partir da realização de atividades experimentais investigativas, objetivou-se fomentar a alfabetização científica e capacitá-los a compreender o processo da fotossíntese de forma integral e contextualizada. O estudo foi desenvolvido a partir de uma pesquisa qualitativa sob a perspectiva da investigação ação, a construção dos dados constou da análise de relatórios dos alunos, diário de campo, áudios gravados e registro fotográfico realizados durante as cinco etapas da sequência didática.
