Resumo: | Background: Birth plans are meant to be a declaration of the expectations and preferences of pregnant woman regarding childbirth. The My Prenatal Care app engages pregnant women in an educational intervention for a healthy pregnancy. We hypothesized that users’ positive perception of an in-app birth plan is a relevant step for establishing direct communication between pregnant women and the health care team, based on an online report available on the app. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate pregnant women’s perception about the communicability of birth-plan preparation using a mobile app. Methods: This was an observational, exploratory, descriptive study. The methodology was user centered, and both qualitative and quantitative approaches were employed. The tools of the communicability evaluation method were applied. Overall, 11 pregnant women evaluated their experience of using a birth-plan prototype interface. The evaluation was performed in a controlled environment, with authorized video recording. There were 8 task-oriented interactions proposed to evaluate interface communicability with users when using the Birth Plan menu. For evaluating perceptions and experiences, a survey with structured and open-ended questions in addition to the free expression of participants was conducted. The primary outcomes assessed were interface communicability and user’s perception of the Birth Plan prototype interface in the My Prenatal Care mobile app. Secondarily, we involved users in the prototyping phase of the interface to identify bottlenecks for making improvements in the app. Results: Regarding users’ performance in accomplishing previously prepared tasks, we found that 10 of 11 (91%) women were capable of completing at least 6 of 8 (75%) tasks. A positive relationship was found between the number of communicability problems and the success of completing the tasks. An analysis of the records revealed three communicability breakdowns related to the data entry, save, and scrollbar functions. The participants freely expressed suggestions for improvements such as for the save function and the process of sharing the birth-plan form upon completion. Conclusions: Users had a positive perception of the Birth Plan menu of the My Prenatal Care app. This user-centered validation enabled the identification of solutions for problems, resulting in improvements in the app. |

O app Meu Pré-Natal envolve gestantes em uma intervenção educativa para uma gestação saudável. Levantamos a hipótese de que a percepção positiva das usuárias sobre o plano de parto no aplicativo é um passo relevante para estabelecer uma comunicação direta entre a gestante e a equipe de saúde, a partir de um relatório online disponível no aplicativo. Objetivo: Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a percepção de gestantes sobre a comunicabilidade da elaboração do plano de parto por meio de um aplicativo móvel. Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo observacional, exploratório e descritivo. A metodologia foi centrada no usuário e foram empregadas abordagens qualitativas e quantitativas. Foram aplicadas as ferramentas do método de avaliação da comunicabilidade. Ao todo, 11 gestantes avaliaram sua experiência no uso de uma interface de protótipo de plano de parto. A avaliação foi realizada em ambiente controlado, com gravação de vídeo autorizada. Foram propostas 8 interações orientadas a tarefas para avaliar a comunicabilidade da interface com os usuários ao utilizar o menu Plano de Parto. Para avaliar as percepções e experiências, foi realizada uma pesquisa com perguntas estruturadas e abertas, além da livre expressão dos participantes. Os principais resultados avaliados foram a comunicabilidade da interface e a percepção do usuário sobre a interface do protótipo do Plano de Parto no aplicativo móvel Meu Pré-Natal. Secundariamente, envolvemos os usuários na fase de prototipagem da interface para identificar gargalos para melhorias no app. Resultados: Em relação ao desempenho das usuárias na realização de tarefas previamente preparadas, verificamos que 10 das 11 (91%) mulheres foram capazes de realizar pelo menos 6 das 8 (75%) tarefas. Foi encontrada uma relação positiva entre o número de problemas de comunicabilidade e o sucesso na conclusão das tarefas. Uma análise dos registros revelou três falhas de comunicabilidade relacionadas às funções de entrada de dados, salvamento e barra de rolagem. Os participantes expressaram livremente sugestões de melhorias, como a função salvar e o processo de compartilhamento do formulário de plano de parto após o preenchimento. Conclusões: As usuárias tiveram uma percepção positiva do menu Plano de Parto do aplicativo Meu Pré-Natal. Essa validação centrada no usuário possibilitou a identificação de soluções para problemas, resultando em melhorias no aplicativo.FAPEMIG - Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de Minas GeraisOutra AgênciaengUniversidade Federal de Minas GeraisUFMGBrasilMED - DEPARTAMENTO DE GINECOLOGIA OBSTETRÍCIAMEDICINA - FACULDADE DE MEDICINAJMIR Formative ResearchCuidado pré-natalAssistência perinatalGravidezTelemedicinaAplicativos móveisDesign centrado no usuárioTelefone celularBirth planPerinatal careUsabilityMobile healthMobile appPregnancyPrenatal careMobile phonePregnant users’ perceptions of the birth plan Interface in the “my prenatal care” app: observational validation studyPercepção das usuárias gestantes sobre a interface do plano de parto no aplicativo “meu pré-natal”: estudo de validação observacionalinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/articlehttps://formative.jmir.org/2019/1/e11374/Juliana Moraes CarrilhoIsaias José Ramos OliveiraDimitri Bassani Santos NevesGabriel Costa OsananRicardo João Cruz CorreiaZilma Silveira Nogueira Reisapplication/pdfinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessreponame:Repositório Institucional da UFMGinstname:Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG)instacron:UFMGLICENSELicense.txtLicense.txttext/plain;
