This paper presents an experiment for the seizure of concepts in organization of the knowledge from the exploitation and analysis of the theme "ethics" in its various dimensions. It was applied in teaching the bibliographic classification system, Universal Decimal Classification (UDC), for students of the course of library science, school of information science at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (ECI/UFMG). It used the procedures of the Project Pedagogy strategy to classify documentary resource of a collection on ethics. The UCD is considered as a type of knowledge organization system (KOS) that was developed as an instrument of codification for the organization of subjects of a knowledge area in information retrieval systems. When using this tool, the student reverses the process to make an analysis in the document to determine the matters that are dealt with, which is knowledge that is registered. The student determine a place for the document in the collection, taking into account the knowledge represented by the collection as a whole. The results indicate that students are able to perceive the fundamental concepts of knowledge organization and that the elements of the instrument are important mechanisms for the organization of knowledge in different contexts, especially for specific purposes.
