Resumo: A partir da crítica que as lideranças políticas e religiosas das comunidades de terreiro têm endereçado às representações ficcionais e documentais em torno das religiões afro-brasileiras, este artigo discute as novas modalidades de figuração do “povo de santo” no cinema, no momento em que ele assume sua auto-representação.
