Para tanto, realiza-se uma breve revisão histórica acerca da epistemologia empírica na área da acústica, destacando alguns métodos de visualização sonora desenvolvidos nesse contexto. Relaciona-se os avanços teóricos e tecnológicos decorrentes desse contexto com o surgimento das primeiras máquinas de registro e reprodução sonora na virada do século XIX, assim como o impacto de tecnologias subsequentes em práticas musicais analíticas e criativas. Nesse contexto, aborda-se algumas questões conceituais e artísticas relacionadas ao termo escuta de máquina, que costuma designar práticas de análise de áudio baseadas em processos automatizados de identificação, classificação e acionamento de eventos em composições com sistemas musicais interativos. Propõe-se, para o escopo desta dissertação, a utilização do termo alternativo escuta com máquina. Em meio a uma reflexão acerca da experiência de escuta em processos composicionais, o emprego desse termo procura destacar uma centralidade do papel do agente humano em processos de escuta mediada. Por fim, apresenta-se alguns métodos de visualização de atributos de áudio, desenvolvidos ao longo da pesquisa de mestrado, que resultaram na produção de rascunhos sonoros. O princípio de geração e interpretação desses rascunhos integraram processos criativos de duas peças: Interstício, para violino e eletrônica em tempo real, e Sorte, para violão e sistema interativo audiovisual.The aim of this paper is to explore sound/audio analysis and visualization techniques as a means of broadening the listening experience in creative processes.To this end, a brief historical review of empirical epistemology in the field of acoustics is carried out, highlighting some sound visualization methods developed in this context.The theoretical and technological advances resulting from this context are related to the emergence of the first sound recording and reproduction machines at the turn of the 19th century, as well as the impact of subsequent technologies on analytical and creative musical practices. In this context, we address some conceptual and artistic issues related to the term machine listening, which usually refers to audio analysis practices based on automated processes for identifying, classifying and triggering events in compositions with interactive musical systems. For the purposes of this dissertation, we propose using the alternative term listening with machines. In the midst of a reflection on the experience of listening in compositional processes, the use of this term seeks to highlight the centrality of the role of the human agent in mediated listening processes.
