Para tanto é essencial que reduzam interrupções em seus processos. O principal motivo de parada na produção de arames trefilados de bitolas finas (1,24mm à 1,65mm), aço equivalente ao ABNT1005, da Arcelormittal em Juiz de Fora MG é a ruptura de arames. As possíveis causas dessa anomalia são: carepa residual, avarias mecânicas no fio máquina, má lubrificação do arame, redução excessiva, geometria das fieiras fora do padrão e baixa relação entre boro e nitrogênio. Esse trabalho teve como objetivo estudar as principais causas de ruptura de arames no processo produtivo de arames trefilados de bitolas finas, aço equivalente ao ABNT1005, na unidade industrial de Juiz de Fora em MG, além de implementar ações que visam eliminar ou pelo menos minimizar as causas, aumentando assim a eficiência e produtividade do processo. Foi identificado que as principais causas foram: carepa residual no arame, baixa relação de B/N e falha na lubrificação devido a alta temperatura do arame durante o processo. Foi realizado planejamento de experiência no Stelmor (laminação) com o objetivo de se estabelecer os parâmetros ótimos de processo para obtenção de melhor composição de óxidos, que deve ter pelo menos 80% de FeO (wustita). No que tange a relação B/N ficou evidente que quanto menor o quociente entre boro e nitrogênio, maior é a quantidade de rupturas. Foi calculado também o coeficiente de encruamento em diferentes corridas com distintas relação B/N. Verificou-se que a alta temperatura do arame prejudica a lubrificação. Através da implementação das ações houve redução das paradas por ruptura de arames e consequentemente aumento de produção. O aumento foi de 3.300t de 2016 (início do trabalho) à 2019, representando crescimento de 21,70%.Competitiveness in the market forces companies to become increasingly effective in their production processes. The possible causes of this anomaly are: residual scale, mechanical damage to the wire rod, poor wire lubrication, excessive reduction, non-standard die geometry and low boron-to-nitrogen ratio. This work aimed to study the main causes of wire breakage in the production process of thin gauge drawn wire, equivalent to ABNT 1005 steel, in the industrial unit of Juiz de Fora in Minas Gerais State, in addition to implementing actions that aim to eliminate or at least minimize the causes, thus increasing the efficiency and productivity of the process. It was identified that the main causes were: residual scale in the wire, low boron-to-nitrogen ratio and failure in lubrication due to the high temperature of the wire during the process. A design of experiments (DOE) was performed in the Stelmor (rolling) in order to establish the optimal process parameters to obtain better oxide composition, which should have at least 80% of FeO (wustite). Regarding the boron-to-nitrogen ratio, it was evident that the lower the ratio between boron and nitrogen, the greater the number of ruptures. The strain-hardnening coefficient was also calculated in different runs with different boron-to-nitrogen ratios. It was found that the high temperature of the wire impairs lubrication. Through the implementation of the actions, there was a reduction in downtimes due to wire breakage and, consequently, an increase in production.
