Distance Education in Brazil has advanced driven by the innovations of online ICTs. The Open University of Brazil proposed the creation of distance learning library science courses and the UFMG School of Information Science joined this project, proposing to create a BiblioEaD course, joining forces with its classroom course. Aiming to know the potential target audience, identified mainly as teachers of Library use who work in public schools in the various municipalities of MG state; this being the purpose of the research. Through a questionnaire instrument, 950 answers were obtained, which reveal a significant interest by the respondents in taking part on the distance education undergraduate course in library science, and their willingness to improve levels of knowledge and commitment to the profession. The professional librarian has the opportunity to deal with a wide range of activities in the organization, production, dissemination, evaluation and analysis of information and with the great challenge of performing several functions simultaneously.
