Resumo: | Wood treated with boron solutions have wide toxicity spectrum for many different deteriorating organisms and low toxicity to mammals and the environment. The aim if this study was to evaluate the retention of preservative in the wood of three hybrids (A, B and C) of Eucalyptus urophylla treated with boron compounds in 8 and 12% concentrations by the vacuum treatment method. Samples were taken from the sapwood region in threes located 1.30 meters height on the shaft, in 2.5 x 2.0 x 5.0cm dimensions. Those were treated with boric acid solution and borax. Retention was calculated by the mass difference method. It was possible to notice that the treatment with 8% solution presented better results and clone C obtained the best retention rates for 8 and 12% and the average retention values, respectively, 4.721 and 3.421 g.cm-3. Clone C showed to be the best among clones for treatment, since it presented better retention of the product. We concluded that among the clones studied, clone C is the most suitable for treatment with boron solution since it presented the best retention rates. Also, the 8% concentration is the more indicated one for the treatment of clones A, B and C. |
