COACHES SPEECHES ABOUT THE USE OF SEVENTH PLAYER AGAINST THE COMPULSORY USE OF INDIVIDUAL DEFENSIVE SYSTEM IN U-12 AND U-14 HANDBALL COMPETITIONS

Resumo: The seventh court player rule was officially entered into handball at the Rio-2016 Olympic Games, in order to interfere with the adaptations implemented in youth handball competitions, in particular, the compulsory use of the individual defensive system in the under-12 and under-14 teams. Our objective was to identify the speeches of handball coaches about the interactions established between the use of this new rule and the mandatory use of the individual defensive system. In this exploratory-descriptive and qualitative study, we used the Snowball Sampling Technique to collect the opinions of 26 coaches, whose answers were analyzed from the Qualitative Content Analysis, and were aggregated into two broad categories, one against and another in favor of the seventh player rule. From the established discussions, we realized that the use of the seventh player doesn’t seem adequate when related to the mandatory of the individual defensive system.

From the established discussions, we realized that the use of the seventh player doesn’t seem adequate when related to the mandatory of the individual defensive system.La regla del séptimo jugador fue introducida oficialmente al balonmano en los Juegos Olímpicos Rio-2016, de modo que interfiera en las adaptaciones implementadas en competiciones de balonmano de jóvenes, tal como la utilización obligatoria del sistema defensivo individual en las categorías sub-12 y sub-14. Nuestro objetivo fue identificar las percepciones de entrenadores de balonmano sobre las interacciones establecidas entre el uso de esta nueva regla con la obligatoriedad del sistema defensivo individual. En este estudio exploratorio-descriptivo y cualitativo, utilizamos la técnica de Snowball Sampling Technique para la colección de opiniones de 26 entrenadores, cuyas respuestas fueron analizadas a partir del Análisis Cualitativo de Contenido, y fueron agregadas en dos grandes categorías, una contra y una a favor la regla del séptimo jugador. A partir de las discusiones establecidas, percibimos que el uso del séptimo jugador no parece adecuado cuando relacionadas a la obligatoriedad del sistema defensivo individual.A regra do sétimo jogador de quadra foi inserida oficialmente ao handebol nos Jogos Olímpicos Rio-2016, de modo a interferir nas adaptações implementadas em competições de handebol de jovens, tal como a utilização obrigatória do sistema defensivo individual nas categorias sub-12 e sub-14. Nosso objetivo foi identificar as percepções de treinadores de handebol sobre as interações estabelecidas entre o uso desta nova regra com a obrigatoriedade do sistema defensivo individual. Neste estudo exploratório-descritivo e qualitativo, utilizamos a técnica de Amostragem Bola de Neve para coleta das opiniões de 26 treinadores, cujas respostas foram analisadas a partir da Análise Qualitativa de Conteúdo, e foram agregadas em duas grandes categorias, uma contra e uma a favor da regra do sétimo jogador.
